TRW Tract - homes for sale in north Redondo Beach
Ideally located just east of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, the areas of North Redondo Beach offer more affordable housing options than it’s neighbors to the west while still offering excellent schools, proximity to the beach, and charming neighborhoods.
One of our favorite areas is a small pocket bordered by Vail Ave, Manhattan Beach Blvd, Inglewood Ave and Robinson St knows as the TRW Tract. It sits across the street from what is now Northrop Grumman but long ago the campus belonged to TRW and with so many engineers living in the neighborhood…..the name stuck. Prices for homes in this neighborhood vary considerably as there are still many “original” type homes for sale starting in the low to mid $1.0Ms with a number of major remodels or new construction homes recently in the $3.0M+ price point.
What makes this neighborhood unique is basically the larger lots and restrictive zoning. This pocket has none of the townhome buildings that are so prevalent in the rest of North Redondo Beach. This means that it’s comprised of single family homes. Most of these were built in the 1940’s and 1950’s and were smaller single level. Combine this with the larger lots and you get a feeling of neighborhood and space unseen in
most of the surrounding areas. Mix in some tree lined streets and local elementary schools just down the street and it makes for a great sense of community. While we’ve seen some older homes get torn down and some “mansionization” going on, the area still has a real charm.
