The Charming Neighborhood of The Avenues of South Redondo
Classic beach town feel in the Avenues of South Redondo Beach
By Keith Kyle
If you’re looking for beach charm and proximity to the beach, the Avenues in South Redondo Beach may be just what you’re looking for. The Avenues are the lettered in South Redondo Beach that are basically bordered by Knob Hill to the north, Esplanade to the west, Prospect to the east and PCH to the South. Many of the homes are original beach bungalows built in the later 1940’s and early 1950’s and the streets have that great old school beach feel. The areas west of PCH are flat streets with the ocean sitting at the end while homes east of PCH sit on hills and dunes and often offer some great views. What make the neighborhoods so great is that they feel like something from the past. Although many of the original homes have been torn down and replaced by much larger homes, the area still has a beach feel and a very different sense than similar areas in Manhattan and Hermosa Beach. It doesn’t hurt to see the sparkling ocean at the end of each street. Rare is the home that is priced below $1,000,000 and depending on views, age, and proximity to the beach, homes generally range from just over $1.0M to the mid $2.0M price point.

Search for Condos for Sale in Redondo Beach

Redondo Beach epitomizes the very best in beach living. Much larger than neighboring Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, Redondo offers housing of every type and just about every price. One of the most affordable ways of living in Redondo Beach is in one of the many condominium buildings in the city. Condo options can range from the very inexpensive Brookside Village to ocean front luxury of Seascape or the Village and oceanfront homes on the Esplanade. Due to zoning issues the majority of the condos for sale can be found in South Redondo Beach and many offer great ocean views and proximity to the beach.

Rare Oceanview 2 Bedrooms in The Village in South Redondo Beach
By Keith Kyle
**Update**both of these condos have been sold.**
It’s not often that a 2 bedroom condo comes along in The Village in Redondo Beach. Located just behind the Redondo Beach pier, the Village condos are located in the 600 – 660 The Village buildings (they are actually on Catalina but we’ll save that explanation for another day.) The units with big views offer true vacation living with dazzling sunsets, views of the boats coming in and out of King Harbor and the sounds of waves hitting the shore.
The reason that it’s so rare to see two bedroom condos is that they are only located on the fronts of each building. In addition to the fact that there are just so few of them, they are even more rare on the market as many buyers keep them as rental units once they outgrow the condo or just decided condo living isn’t for them.
Since 2010 there have only been 3 of these rare units available which is what makes it pretty astounding to see two units currently for sale at the same time. This is even more unbelievable given the lack of home inventory throughout both Redondo Beach and the South Bay. The first condo is located at 630 The Village #116 and is priced at $579,000. The second unit with larger views and more updates is located at 610 The Village #116 and priced at $699,000. Both units were built in 1974 and have 938 square feet, 2 pools, fitness center and direct access to walk to the pier and beach. Ahh….vacation living is good.
