If you’ve got little ones and the waves at the beach are just a little too much, there’s another way to spend a great day at the beach without actually going to the beach. Seaside Lagoon in South Redondo beach may be just what you’re looking for to cool off n the summer. Located in the King Harbor/Redondo Pier area Seaside Lagoon is part park, part pool, part beach play area with plenty of places to eat and play nearby. Water is pumped in from King Harbor, chlorinated, and eventually cleaned and pumped back out.
Seaside Lagoon is open in the summer from 10am-5:45 daily and admission is $7 for adults and $6 for kids.
Seaside Lagoon is not only open daily but has some wonderful special events such as fireworks on the 4th, Lobsterfest and even winter ice skating in years past.

There’s nothing like living in a place that others think of as a summer vacation spot. I’ve lived in Hermosa Beach for over 20 years and it’s hard not to be inspired by such a beautiful place. Just last week while taking a walk on the beach on one of the more beautiful days of the year we spotted these three whales just a few hundred feet off shore. Just another reason why it’s good to live at the beach.
Redondo Beach was recently invaded by, what looked to be, giant rockets. Not a normal sight for this sleepy beach town. In reality the “rockets” were coke drums that were being transported to the Chevron refinery in El Segundo. What they do I’m not really sure but they were impressive, dwarfing the specially designed trucks that were going to be slowly pulling them down PCH in the middle of the night for the short, but very challenging move. They arrived in Redondo Beach by barge and were done in three waves.
With the dawn of a new year, it really got me thinking about what we do as
Realtors and why, If done with the right motives, it’s so rewarding. In the stresses of an escrow, or in the challenges of a day of showing houses, it’s easy to lose sight of what selling a home can mean and for many it’s just another “deal”. But that’s not at all what this is about. I work with many first time home buyers and it is no exaggeration to think that this decision that I’m helping them make is nothing short of life altering. The home someone chooses is more than just granite counters, 2.5 bathrooms, corner lot, fixer or turn key….it is choosing a neighborhood, choosing neighbors, choosing schools, and even choosing a lifestyle. It’s about people…the people the home buyer doesn’t even know yet that may end up being friends for life.
Have you ever checked in on past clients years later and met the neighbors or school friends, or met the son or daughters best friend from next door? These are people that may be in our clients lives forever…and it was partially due to a decision we helped them make. Yes we sell houses, but it is so much more than that. Every client we have deserves to be treated with this understanding and not only will it likely help your business, it makes real estate and selling homes one of the more rewarding jobs imaginable in my eyes.
