For months now we’ve seen the construction happening at 1500 Esplanade. These oceanview condos are ideally located on the Esplanade with stunning views stretching from Palos Verdes and Catalina to Malibu. As realtors are people to we have our biases and preferences like everyone else. I’m partial to beach bungalows that capture that original charm of our wonderful coastal community. Many of these homes have been torn down with mini mansions replacing them and that’s the unfortunate reality of land value being so unbelievable.

One of my favorite stretches of homes is a block of the Esplanade, Redondo Beach’s oceanfront address. The majority of the homes along this street are larger condo complexes or townhomes but a few, original single family homes still exist. 605 Esplanade is one of them and evokes thoughts of idyllic Cape Cod living. Sitting on the bluff, this home offers stunning oceanfront views with crashing waves and dazzling sunsets. Unlike homes on The Strand in Manhattan and Hermosa Beach, what this home offers is space and an actual yard. When people think of life at the beach…they think ocean front. Unfortunately that idea is out of the price range of most people. Fortunately Redondo Beach has an option and it may be more affordable than you think. There are many options ranging from multi million dollar oceanfront estates, to the bluff top homes of Paseo De La Playa, to affordable condos that make life feel like a vacation!
Although this home has seemingly been on the market with little flexibility on the part of the sellers in terms of viewing the home or price, it’s still certainly worth mentioning as this is such a unique property. For most of us, living ocean front in Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach is
unrealistic and unaffordable. Prices generally start in the multi millions and the few Strand “fixers” that are still out there are usually quickly bought up by developers and builders. Redondo Beach is different, however, as zoning has made for larger condo complexes, many with great views, and almost all far more affordable. As of November 6th 2012, there are currently 6 condos on the market….most with spectacular ocean views. The most prominent areas to find ocean view condos in Redondo Beach are the Esplanade, the oceanfront street in the cities southernmost area, and The Village and Seascape which are a series of buildings built in the 1970s that generally overlook King Harbor.
